Welcome to http://carocat.co.uk

As Ashish already pointed out [and he noticed within minutes!] this blog now has a new domain and no longer includes the .wordpress.com.

I bought carocat.co.uk quite a while ago, mainly to reserve it as carocat.com was already taken and I wanted to make sure that this one is mine, especially as I prefer the .co.uk to .com. I also own a few other domains, but they will mainly be used for other purposes.

So why carocat? Well, carocat is my nickname all over the internet, apart from Xbox Live where the name was sadly taken by someone from Korea. It’s a nick name partially based on my real name, Cat, and partially based on a name that someone thought was mine and that grew on me. It is also a very uncommon name and there are hardly any websites where it’s been taken. Chances are that if you come across ‘carocat’ on an English speaking site it is probably me.

Now, as I am with the same blogging service, wordpress.com, both urls will work. However, may I ask anyone who has me in their blogroll to update their entry to carocat.co.uk, please.

In addition, anyone who has me on their Technorati list, please add my new blog as well:

Thank you very much.

    I’ll admit .co.uk is sexy! :D

    and he noticed within minutes!
The difference is Geeky engineering. lol. Well actually it was because I was checking my incoming links… and I’m a sucker for popularity! :D

Congrats Cat.. two new homes! :D

  2. Cat says:

Aren’t we all suckers for popularity? ;)

  3. ish says:

    Aiiight, link updated. :D

I want a custom domain too but after figuring out all the money it was going to cost and the kind of performance I’m giving at school, I can’t really afford it. :P

  4. Ashish C. says:

    Cat: lol. yeah.

ish: Well you could get that domain of yours transferred or something if you want. I’m not particularly sure about how it works.

  5. Kirk M says:

Hi Cat, and congrats and all that.

It’s good to have your own domain name isn’t it?
The next step towards having your own WP install. yes? :D

  6. Matt says:

@ish – what do you mean? To get a domain and web hosting and then transfering the domain or just getting th domain?

Domains go for about 5.99 for 2 years.

I remember when you bought the domain cat, it’s good to see you finally using it. :p

  7. Cat says:

    Hi Kirk: Thanks!

I am getting less and less interested in having my own hosted blog and I was never too interested alltogether. I think one of the main reasons I like wp.com is that it is more about figuring out workarounds to have things I can’t normally do done and the community/forum/support.

I am tempted in getting some CSS knowledge to have my blog look different, but that will only be at some point.

Hey Matt: Yeah, I’ve had this for ages and was going to use it for this, but it was a matter of reactivating my Paypal account, etc….

And I think Ish is more talking about the money. Him and Ashish [and myself] were given a 1 year free hosting/wp install and domain and whilst Ashish is still using it, Ish went back after a week.

  8. Sha says:

Yay, you got your own addy. Great to see the new blog, will update my link in a few minutes and yes I noticed the new addy straight away because I was watching the web addy for some strange reason.

  9. Cat says:

Everyone’s been so fast in noticing this!

    Cheers, Sha.

  10. timethief says:

Everyone but me – kudos cat :)

  11. ellaella says:

Congratulations, cat. I have to tell you I smile every time I see that kitty of yours. Cute overload.

  12. Cat says:

Timethief, thank you very much. :)

Ellaella, thanks! And yes, it’s a great picture. The header was only meant to be temporarily, but I like it so much..
